Recent Commissions:

Maine Fishermen's Monument, Portland, ME
Historically, Maine's commercial fishing industry has played a critical role in our nation's and Maine's development. Today, despite facing many challenges, the state's commercial fishing industry remains vital to Maine's culture and economy. As such, the commercial fishing industry must be supported and deserves to be commemorated for its past, present and future contributions to our state and country. It is therefore fitting that a monument commemorating Maine's commercial fishing heritage be erected and dedicated in the City of Portland - Maine's largest city and largest commercial fishing port.

After conducting a nationwide search, the Commission selected a distinguished Maine-based artist team - Christopher Gowell of Eliot and Steven Carpenter from York.
